San Francisco Ocean Beach 5K & 6 Mile

A Benefit for Project Open Hand, providing meals with love.

5K & 6 Mile

8:15 a.m., Friday, July 04, 2003 4th of July: Starts on the beach at Great Highway & Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco (near the Zoo). Runs & walks on compressed beach normally covered by ocean and exposed by an extreme minus tide. This surface is called flat-pack and is considered the best for skeletal impact.

Pre-registration Entry: $20 includes t-shirt (until June 23, 2003).
$25 includes t-shirt and official coffee mug (until June 23, 2003).
Race-Day Entry: $25 includes t-shirt from 07:15 a.m. at Great Highway & Sloat Boulevard.

Winners of the 5K and 6 Mile receive a breakfast for two at Jo Ann's Café (1131 El Camino Real in South San Francisco), which placed second for best American Breakfast in California by Zagat Survey of Restaurants (Ritz Carlton was first). First, second, and third place winners in each age division through age 85+ will receive a special mug with their place screened alongside the race logo. Prizes for place winners, random drawing winners, and top pledge collectors, include a vacation at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Maui's most Hawaiian, Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society concerts, Chevy's Dinner Certificates, Sports Basement Certificates, a Cardio Glide from Fitness Equipment Direct and a stay at the famous San Remo Hotel near San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf.
